West German Radio Big Band (WDR)

Jim McNeely is a frequent guest conductor of the WDR Radio Big Band of Cologne.  The 18-piece band's schedule includes live broadcasts from The Broadcast Hall in Cologne, recordings for broadcast, and tours within Europe.

The Village Vanguard band's heritage is strong in this ensemble.  Mel Lewis was a favorite guest drummer of the WDR, which plays many works written by Bob Brookmeyer, former Vanguard musical director.
